Splat the Cat Up In The Air At The Fair
by Rob Scotton

My kids love Splat the cat books. This is a fun story about a trip to the fair and the thoughtfulness of each of the characters for a friend that was not able to go with them. I like the caring & thoughtfulness the characters show. I also just love Spike and his character my kids think he is hilarious. The illustrations are true to the Splat style. Bright colors great
character expressions. The composition flows smoothly. I like to read this book towards the beginning or the middle of story time because the kids love and laugh at the characters.

Never Tickle a Tiger
by Pamela Butchart
illustrated by Marc Boutavant

This is a cute story of a girl and her ability to not stay still and the adventure she takes to the zoo. My daughter especially loved this books because the main character is always full of a ton of energy and she could relate to the main character. It is a cute and clever story that you would not be able to guess what is going to happen.
The words are fun and it introduces you to many animals. I  love the colorful hand drawn illustrations. I like the composition it flows. I am not a fan of pages that fold out there is only one section like this and I understand it is to add to the story but it is frustrating for me because the kids like to pull the pages and they get torn easy or the fold every which way.
Very cute story! I like to read this at the beginning or middle because the kids like to point at the animals and tell me about this animal or that and then they get excited at the climax of the story laughing and pointing.

Silverlicious
by Vitoria Kann

This is a cute and clever story taking you through the main characters childhood event. I love how she has incorporated all the wonderful holiday icons. My kids love the twist and turns of this story and it gets their minds thinking. The illustrations contain the same elements that most of the Pinkalicious lots of things to look at on each page making it a book you can read over and over again noticing something new. My kids love this book. I like to read this book towards the middle of story time.

Knuffle Bunny Too
by Mo Willems

This is a cute story of bunny mix up and the beginning of a new friendship.
The story is cute and has a small element of suspense. My kids loved this story.
The Illustrations were a combination of mixed media that was fun and added texture and perspective. The composition of the pages changes keeping you on your toes like the story does. I like to read this story at the beginning of story time because the kids get invested in the characters and include their comments.

Love Monster And The Last Chocolate
by Rachel Bright

This is a story about a monster and his love of chocolate and if he will share.
I like the idea and the lesson from this story. I am not crazy about this story.
My kids enjoy the story. My niece who was visiting who is
8 enjoyed the story more than my children.
Not sure if this is just the case that it appeals to an
 older audience...older children's audience.
I did not like how the font changes through out the words and the sketches have a
free hand sketch quality which I don't mind but pair them with the font and my eyes are
overwhelmed. I think this bothers me more than it does my kids.
It makes me feel like I am looking at my kids messy room.
The composition is unexpected and your eye has alot to take in.
If I read this it would be towards the middle of story time.

by Tammi Sauer
Illustrated by Liz Starin

This is a cute story of imagination and play. The main character and his cat experience
a fun game of make believe play leaving them with a make believe friendship.
Very creative and out of the box story.
It is sweet and creative with a great ending.
The composition of the pages are not predictable and the illustrations
are fun and playfull. I love the watercolor feel to the illustrations.
My kids enjoy this story.
I like to read this story at the beginning of story time. My children
sometimes like to roar along with the character.

Counting With Barefoot Critters
by Teagan White

This is a great book for counting. I love the rhythm of this story
and the fact they count up to 12 which I find is slightly random.
My daughter loves this story. My son likes it but it does not
give him the opportunity to roar or yell. It might be a better
book for him when he gets alittle older. I like that it is clear
with the introduction of the numbers.
The composition of the pages are nice and unified which is
great when you are counting it creates and easy eye repetition for
your child. I love the illustrations they are small and detailed which
makes this book great for up close reading and viewing.
The animals are so cute and line quality varies and giving the
page more interest.
I like to read this book towards the end of story time.
It has a warm sweet ending and the cadence of the story is calming.
